Karma Solid Perfume

Karma is like an old friend - you may not enjoy their presence all of the time, but when you do get to spend some quality time together, you realise how much you love and enjoy their company. This is a perfume that speaks volumes - a timeless masterpiece that's both youthfully exquisite yet wonderfully ageless. It's a fragrance that echoes the sentimentally of the sixties whilst mirroring the modern edge of rebellion. In its simplest terms, it's perfection.

What I found most surprising about this solid edition, is that it's just as amazing as it's liquid sister, if not even better. Most of the time, when Lush release a solid perfume, it often loses some of its strength and can come across a little 'waxy' in scent. This is not the case here.

Firstly, if you've yet to experience Karma, I only have one thing to say - Are you mad? In my opinion, this is one of Lush's greatest perfumes and it only serves to make me appreciate it more now that I know it's versatile in its many formats.
As I've said in nearly all of my solid perfume reviews, there are many reasons why solid perfumes are a good investment. Firstly, they are very easy to transport from place to place. They take up very little space and have no way of leaking, so can be stored in pockets, purses and bags and taken near enough anywhere. Secondly, they are great value for money. This one in particular comes in at £6 for a 12g tub, and while the weight in conjunction with the price may seem rather expensive for perfume, it's far more compact than your typical liquid fragrances so you get a lot more bang for your buck.

Karma is presented as a beautiful deep orange colour, radiating a spicy patchouli and citrus aroma that immediately draws you in. On the surface, you can make out the lemongrass and sweet orange oil, which gives this solid perfume a wonderfully thick and sultry citrus aroma. Yet, if you think this is going to smell like one of Lush's typical zesty smells, you're very much mistaken.

Aside from the fruitiness, there's a layer of patchouli which gives this perfume a unique but very gentle earthy scent. It almost grounds the sweeter elements so that you don't just end up with a generic perfume. Elemi oil then rounds the perfume off with a spicy, sharp and rather sweet note that gives this perfume it's one-of-a-kind aroma.                                                                                                                                                   It's a warm, sensual and very comforting perfume, yet one that is equally rather light and uplifting on the skin. As I have said in previous reviews of Karma-scented items, this aroma reminds me slightly of old-fashioned cola with a little less fizz and an extra layer of spice. It's far more complex than that but it may give you some idea of what it smells like.
How Karma Solid Perfume surpasses its liquid counterpart is that it upholds the wonderful aroma of this perfume in all of its strength, as well as displaying the same amount of staying power on the skin. I could still detect this on my body some 4-5 hours after initial application, which makes it the longest lasting solid perfume to date.

As with all of Lush's solid perfumes, you won't lose any of the product due to evaporation - this one melts into your skin and releases the wonderful aroma that you can enjoy throughout the day. This is an incredible perfume and one of my signature scents; it's a perfume I cannot live without and I love knowing that I can now carry the solid edition around to get my hourly fix.

  1. so would you say the solid is a better purchase than the liquid? I have the solid and love it, but I am returning a liquid Sikkim Girls today (love the lotion but the perfume gives me a massive headache) and was considering picking up the Karma liquid.
