THE FACE BEHIND THE BLOG

Twelve years ago, I chose to make the transition into vegetarianism. What was initally labelled as a 'phase' by my family and friends, has now become a profound and very important part of my life. Six years ago I made a leap into veganism and haven't looked back since...

When I made the transition from avid meat eater to full time animal activist, I immediately began to search far and wide for companies that were not only against animal testing, but ones that were actually proactive with their ethical and moral stance on the wellbeing and welfare of both animals and human beings.

Lush was a company that came up time and time again as being at the forefront of worthy and relevant causes. They're one of the only high street shops that offer consumers easily accessible, cruelty-free products - while actively striving to promote the importance of sustainability, compassionate sourcing, charity across the globe.

In simplest terms, they're important. They're a company that uphold the strongest standards, whilst actively educating and promoting a great moral and ethical standpoint within the cosmetics industry.

On a lighter note, let's not forget about the fact that they make a mean bath bomb too...

This blog stems from a love of Lush as well as an understanding that consumers often need information and advice on products before they invest their hard-earned money. I aim to write honest reviews on all of the vegan products that Lush offer in the hope that at least one person will benefit from my words.

  1. Hi jen, do you have any experience of the online boxing day sale? I didnt even know that lush had a sale until I came across some haul videos and it seems that you can get some unbelievable bargains. What time does it usually start and how quick do you have to be? I'll be working myself till noon so hopefully there will be plenty left by the time I get online. Thanks xx

    1. Last year was the first year I attempted to buy from the Lush sale and was shocked to find how early it starts. I was on the website from about 9am and found that half the stock had already gone by that time. I would recommend that you get on there around 7am if you're hoping for a bargain. It's usually 50% off everything and they normally have all of the excess Christmas products as well as any products in their warehouse that can be cleared out to make room for new stock. There's often many gift sets you can pick up - lots of bath bombs and bubble bars and a few regular products such as cleaners and body lotions.

I'll be up really early for this but I should add that it's not a 'mad panic'. I would be fairly quick at picking what you want and paying for it but it's not a 'mad dash, click click click, pay and pass out' sort of situation - hehe! Last year there was many items ( a good 30-40) that were still online and available to buy in the evening :)

Also, thankyou for the recommendation for rose jam, it is by far the nicest shower gel Ive ever tried. Im hoping to stock up xx

    1. I'm not sure about the time it starts - it's normally early though - 6am? 7am? I'm so glad you love the Rose Jam - it's wonderful, isn't it? Let's hope there's loads to buy in the Boxing Day Sale :)

  3. Hi Jen,

In response to your previous post about left over cocktail products

I would chuck in all the remaining bath bombs

Add Blue Skies and Fluffy.. Bubble Bar (MY Absoloute ALL TIME Favorite)

And Is that a soap I see in your box of leftovers too?

    Use that to wash!

    Name it ERRATIC!

    1. I love this idea! As someone who's a little OCD with products, I don't like having a large box of bits! I think I may have an epic bath on Sunday, when I'm back from my weekend away!

    1. I do! If you search for allthingslushuk, that's my username :) I don't use it an awful lot though - but I do post the occasional Lush thing!

  5. I agree! It really irks me when I have bits and pieces of lush product here and there. I tend to just chuck it all in my bath. I must say it does work quite well! How was your weekend away?

    1. Thank you so much - I am always so happy to hear that people love my writing and find it useful! It's often this that keeps me going on those days when I have a million products to review and all I want to do is sleep :)

    2. I'm just as much of a "Jen" fan myself and find myself reading your videos and reading your blogs every day. Your blogs and videos are almost as addicting as the Lush products themselves. Thank you so much for providing us Lushies with so much information. It's so helpful when trying to decide what to order and what to wait for. By the way, I also hate ginger! I'm so glad you identified the products with clove and ginger. Certainly saved me money from finding out after ordering those items that would have ended up in the garbage.

    3. Aw haha - thank you! I think my blog and videos make me seem much more interesting than I actually am. I'm glad I can help the Lush community with my reviews and if it helps people find a good starting place for Lush products, I know I've done my job! It can be rather overwhelming for new Lush fans to know where to start!

  9. I'm sure you get people trying to buy from you a lot, but I'm desperate to find a Big perfume. I'm a follower of your blog and know you had some once upon a time- is there any chance you both still have one and would also be willing to sell it? I don't even need a full bottle, but I need that scent in my life and am willing to pay!

    1. Hi there - I am so sorry to hear you are having problems finding this perfume - Lush really need to bring it out again as it is pretty amazing! I have one bottle of the stuff but I'm afraid it is one of my favourites so I'm not willing to let it go at this stage. Let's hope it's one of the forum special perfumes this year :)

  10. I went vegan about a year ago now and lush is one of the first places i turn to, to get the products i need. It's so great to finally find a person who is just as interested in lush as i am and i don't need to keep checking back to lush to check if the products are vegan (because you make it so clear which are and which aren't so thank you!!). Also what is your thoughts on milky baths new formula?! ^_^
