Drummers Drumming Reusable Bubble Bar

It's not very often that Lush offer their consumers reusable bubble bars; much less ones with new designs and a different scent. Usually you see the return of Tulip Mum, The Mum and Madame Butterfly for Mother's Day, not to mention Magic Wand at Christmas time, and that's about as far as Lush go with these sorts of products.

So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that Lush would be bringing out a brand new product for their Christmas 2014 range. With a name that plays homage to the famous Twelve Days of Christmas song, Drummers Drumming Reusable Bubble Bar is an attractive and rather playful addition to the seasonal range.
Possessing the Yummy Yummy Yummy scent, which you can also find in both Mrs Whippy Ballistic and Strawberry Feels Forever Massage Bar, this festive treat gives off a wonderfully rich, decadent and very mature take on the strawberries and cream fragrance. If you're expecting a cheap, generic and synthetic berry scent, you'll be sorely disappointed.

This bubble bar gets it's scent from a combination of bergamot and olibanum oil - a fresh, fruity and slightly woody scent with dashings of geranium oil that give the fragrance a powdery layer. You can definitely detect something about the aroma that relates to strawberry - however, it's as if Lush have dried fresh strawberries and then dusted them with powdered flowers. It's a rather mature smell that will appeal to those young and old, and it's definitely of a much better quality than anything you'd find in your local high street shop.

For those unfamiliar with re-usable bubble bars, these fantastic products are very reasonably priced (Drummers Drumming will set you back £5.25) and are designed to be used across multiple baths. Simply swish around in your bath water and hold under the tap to produce an impressive range of bubbles. Once you've finished with it, the bar can be stored and used again. Normally, one of these will last you a good 4-5 baths, making it much better value for money than any of Lush's normal bubble bars and ballistics.
After swishing Drummers Drumming around for just over a minute, my tub was filled with light, fluffy fragrant bubbles - most of which stayed with me throughout the duration of the bath. While the reusable bar consists of bright pink and yellow, I was surprised to see that this product doesn't colour the water at all - instead leaving you with a rather plain looking bath. This is probably the only negative aspect about this item, which certainly doesn't put me off purchasing it again. However, I should warn you to be careful when storing it in-between uses - the bar does tend to leak colour onto the surface it's sitting on, so we sure to stand it upright or rest it inside something that you don't mind getting a little dirty.

With bergamot oil to freshen and tone the skin, and olibanum oil to anaesthetise and hydrate at the same time, this bubble bar does wonders in the tub. While it's not the most moisturising experience, it does leave you feeling really clean and refreshed, and my skin felt much clearer after using this.

The most impressive feature of Drummers Drumming is that the scent is one of the strongest ones I have ever come across in a Lush bathing product. Once the bubble bar has been used in the bath, the scent engulfs everything in sight and you can still smell this on your body a full 24 hours after you initially had the bath.

While I was excited to try this, I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did, and I'll definitely be buying a few more of these to stock up with for the year. This makes a great alternative to all of the festive smells that this year has brought to the table, and I hope that Lush bring this back again next year.

  1. I Was Expecting You To Dislike This Product ,Because Most Reusable Bubble Bars Aren't So Great ! BUT After Reading Your Review I Really Want To Try It . Do The Christmas Reusable Bubble Bars Have The Same Formula As The Mothers Day Ones ?

    1. Hi there - I'm glad I've inspired you to check this out as it was a wonderful experience. This is the same formula as the other reusable bubble bars that I have tried, although this one isn't as softening as the others, so I suspect that this one has less oils!

    1. It's definitely one of the strongest I've had in a long time. If you managed to get your hands of Mrs Whippy, it's very much like that without the overpowering Tonka scent. In terms of regular products, I'd compare it to something like Avobath that just takes over the room it's resting in and follows you around for hours and hours afterwards :)

  3. Hmm never tried any YYY before, is it possible if the smells is like Mumkin? *since that is the only strawberry products from Lush that I ever sniff on* haha

    1. There's not very much of a similarity really - Mumkin in more of a gentle, fruity floral smell while YYY is much stronger and almost incensey. Both are beautiful in their own way though so I would suggest you give this a whirl :)
